Croky is a Belgian brand that sells potato chips and potato snacks. Croky is sold in more than 30 countries worldwide and is owned by the Belgian family business Roger & Roger.
The Croky brand was born in 1966 in Nieuwkerke, when the West Flemish family of hotel owners Huyghe came up with the idea to sell chips. As a tribute to their family parrot who had just died, they named their company “Croky”. The parrot also became the mascot of the potato chip brand.

In 1970 Croky was taken over by the British multinational United Biscuits, in the 90s Croky was the market leader for a few months. In 1997 United Biscuits started to focus on biscuits and a number of chip factories were closed. It was not until 1999 that former employees of the British United Biscuits, together with Roger and Roger, set up a chips factory with this name. In 2004 they managed to get the Croky brand by name and they bought the last factory in Deventer.
In 2008, Croky was relaunched with improved product quality, new positioning, new packaging and promotional actions. The parrot’s logo came back, and the branding focused on people in their thirties and forties who had nostalgic memories of the Croky Chips. This approach proved successful.
