In 1610 Jacob Pietersz started a folk pottery factory called “de Star”. This already distinguished itself by making semi-industrial pottery in addition to the usual products and pipes.
In 1853 Peter Goedewaagen bought this factory. He had a lot of knowledge of transport and became the largest pipe maker in the Netherlands and even Europe! In 1910 Goedewaagen received a royal decoration. Things were going well for the company. He bought more in 1923 and started making Jugendstil and Art Deco designs at that time.
The Jugendstil models by the world-famous designer Bert Nienhuis become classics.
The company still makes pottery products.
