Van Wijk blankets

Wool blanket factory ” Brothers Van Wijk & Co ‘was founded by the van Wijk family in Leiden, the Netherlands. In 1815 this company employed nearly a thousand people. Their blankets and woolen fabrics conquered the whole world. The life story of the woolen factory nevertheless got a bitter end; after having run a good company for years, they also could not compete with cheap labor from eastern continents. The decline of the company began in 1957, when it merged with an order big company. The merged company was named Van Wijk and Heringa. In 1963 the company was bought by Reinder Zwolsman, and then liquidated.
