Aabe
The name AaBe consists of parts of the name of the founder: Adolf van den Bergh. The Van den Bergh family had been in textiles in Tilburg for a long time, they are known from the BeKa factory. But Adolf wanted his own factory and in 1929 had he built one.In the 1930s there was an economic crisis in the world. But people still wanted to feel warm and that is why it went well with AaBe right from the start. After the Second World War, the factory even developed into "the Netherlands' largest blanket factory" with more than 1200 employees. In addition to the woolen blankets, they made fabrics for clothing and uniforms and textiles for the home, such as curtains. But from the late 60s, more and more people took down duvets. As a result, fewer woolen blankets were sold. Many textile companies closed at that time. But AaBe continued to exist. In 1978 it was a lot smaller with around 200 employees, but they still made blankets. That year, they established a successful department for substances that are very difficult to catch fire. They are especially useful for aircraft, for example. In 1996 only this department remained, with the name AaBe Textiles. But unfortunately this department of Aabe also had to close definitively in 2008.There is still a company today called AaBe: AaBe Textiles Trading. Just like the old AaBe, they sell nice and warm woolen blankets.
